Meet the coach
Hi, I'm Chris Ridgway, Coach at OptimumRun.
I've spent almost 20 years learning what it takes to become a better runner. Not as a full-time athlete, but as someone balancing training alongside work, family life and the everyday challenges that most runners face.
I understand that training doesn’t happen in a perfect, controlled environment. School runs, busy careers, family commitments, holidays, and unexpected life events all shape what’s realistically possible. That’s why successful coaching isn’t about creating the perfect plan on paper, it’s about creating a plan that actually works for the person following it.
I train around a busy lifestyle and can still run under 3 hours for the marathon and sub 20 minutes for 5K.
My own running continues to reinforce the belief that with the right structure and consistency, meaningful performance gains are possible without training like a full-time athlete.
I'm a England Athletics Licensed Coach and Lydiard Certified Coach, combining proven training principles with a practical understanding of real life.
